Bishop's School branches to clash in interschool football final

It rained goals for the Bishop's School in the semifinals of theSouthern Command Invitational Interschool Football Tournament, with both their branches from Camp and Kalyaninagar each smashing in fivegoals in their respective matches at the Jeejeebhoy Ground of the Bishop's School, Camp today.

In the first semifinal, the Bishop's School Camp received contributions from its entire offensive line, with as many as five players scoring goals to help them rout the Anglo Urdu Boys High School 5-0.

Chinmay Nagrecha and Tenzing Wangden placed Bishop's firmly in the drivers seat with goals in the early moments of the match, scoring in the 12th and 14th minute respectively. Zane Young then netted in the 29th, followed by a strike from Arthur Vieyra in the 35th which gave them a 4-0 lead before halftime.

Amar Jaboury rounded off the whitewash in the second half, scoring in the 59th minute to book his team a place in the final. Their counterparts, the Bishops Co-Ed School, Kalyaninagar also produced a solid team effort to thrash the Dastur Junior College 5-1. Striker Himanshu Sharma drew first blood for Bishops in the 14th minute and Abhiroop Gupta doubled the lead in the 28th. JonathanYoung's shot found the back of the net just three minutes later to make it 3-0 as Bishops pulled further away from their opponents.

Dastur did manage to regroup after halftime, and pulled one back in the 47th minute through Akshay Chavan. However, the Bishops forwards were simply too strong, and thoroughly outplayed them on the counterattack to score twice more before the full-time whistle. Arunav Chakraborty and Gaurav Gupta found the net in the 53rd and 61st minute respectively to cap off a fine performance and a convincing one-sided semifinal victory.
