US Open 2010: McEnroe happy to see Murray on the offensive

New York, Sep.1 (ANI): Tennis legend John McEnroe has urged grand slam hopeful John Murray to be on the offensive during this year's U.S. Open, saying that he should go for his shots for however long he stays around, whatever the weather.

McEnroe has said that he is pleased to note that Murray has shown a greater inclination to be proactive, rather than wait for his opponent's mistakes.

"The difference with Andy is his willingness to go after the ball, to be more aggressive. This is something he may have been thinking about for a while. It is not something new. It seems like a transition," McEnroe said.

McEnroe said that, in the past, Murray had not been aggressive enough against other leading players.

"When he tightens up in matches against some of the biggest players, it seems he is not being aggressive," he said in an interview with BBC Five Live.

"If I were to change one thing, I would do that," he added.

McEnroe predicted that one of Nadal, Federer or Murray would be the champion.

"It will be one of those guys. I have picked Nadal. Heat is an issue, so is luck," McEnroe said.

McEnroe predicted that Federer, who already has 16 slam titles, will win two or three more majors over the course of his career. (ANI)
