Players awaiting match fees; Butt busy with foreign trips

Mon, Oct 18 10 11:56 PM

Karachi, Oct 18 (PTI) The foreign trips undertaken by the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt have led to a delay in the disbursement of match fees and other payments to the national team members. "Butt''s absence due to foreign trips is the primary reason behind finance department not been able to disburse the match fees and other payments to the players who went to England," a source in the board said. "The documents are not complete and cheques are lying unsigned. There was no issue in making the payments as soon as Butt was available to sign them," he said. The payments to the players include special win bonuses announced by the Board, half of which the cricketers have committed to donate to the Prime Minister''s flood relief fund. The source also added the PCB chief had directed the concerned officials that no match fees and other bonuses should be paid to the suspended trio of Test captain Salman Butt and pace bowlers, Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad Asif, currently serving a provisional suspension from the ICC for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing. "Butt has made it clear that these three players would get nothing until their appeals are heard by the ICC and they are cleared of all charges even by Scotland Yard," he said. PTI Corr SHN
