Karachi, Oct 18 (PTI) The Pakistani selectors today named young opener Shahzaib Hasan and pace bowler Wahab Riaz in the squad for the Twenty20 and one-day series against South Africa starting October 26. The inclusions come after the pair''s outstanding performance in last week''s domestic Twenty20 competition. The selectors had earlier ignored both the players while announcing a 15-member side for the forthcoming series against the Proteas in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. But the PCB today came out with a press release which stated both Shahzaib and Wahab have been included in the final squad for the tour. Shahzaib and Wahab were declared the best batsman and best bowler in the national Twenty20 championship that concluded on Saturday in Lahore. The selectors and board had faced lot of criticism for announcing the limited overs and Test squads for the series against South Africa before the holding of the national T20 event. The critics included former Test captains and greats, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram and Aamir Sohail who said they couldn''t understand the PCB selection policy at all. Sources said that the decision to include the two youngsters in the squad came after Miandad, who is director general in the cricket board, met with PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt in Lahore. "It is Miandad who convinced Butt that the two players deserve a chance in the touring squad after their fine show in the national T20 event," a source said. Shahzaib hit a hundred in one of the national championship matches for Karachi while Wahab took 3 for 14 in a high scoring final won by Lahore. Pakistan T20 and ODI squad: Shahid Afridi (capt), Imran Farhat, Mohammad Hafeez, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Asaf Shafiq, Fawad Alam, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman, Shoaib Akhtar, Tanveer Ahmed, Zulqarnain Haider, Shahzaib Hasan and Wahab Riaz.
