Guangzhou, Nov 22 (PTI) Indian men''s team defeated Hong Kong 34-29 victory to finish ninth in the handball competition of the Asian Games here today. India, who could win only one match in the preliminary stage to collect two points and finish fifth in the six-team Group A, did well during their 9th-10th place match against Hong Kong. The Indians, who were leading 17-13 at the break, surged ahead to make it 17-13 in the next session to eventually prevail over their opponents 34-29. On the other hand, Indian women''s woes in the handball event continued as they stumbled to their third successive loss, going down 17-42 to North Korea in their last Group B preliminary round match. The Indian women did never pose a challenge to their strong opponents, as they lagged behind from the very beginning. They were trailing 8-23 at the break before losing the match 9-19. Having lost their previous two encounters also, first against hosts China in their inaugural match and then against Japan, the Indians were today playing for some pride but yet again they failed to lift themselves.
