Colombo, Nov 29 (PTI) Barely a year after announcing her retirement, Sri Lanka''s only female Olympic medalist Susanthika Jaysainghe has decided to make a comeback once again. However, Jayasinghe told local media that a formal announcement in this regard would be made only after informing her decision to Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and country''s Sports Minister, Chandrasiri Bandara Ratnayake. The 33-year-old sprinter had won the women''s 200m bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics but was later awarded silver after winner Marian Jones failed in dope tests. Jayasinghe is the only Sri Lankan Olympic medalist after Duncen White, who won a silver in men''s hurdles in 1948 London Olympics. She has also won the silver in the same event in 1997 World Championships. After retirement Jayasinghe, a mother of one, contested elections from the ruling party coalition but failed to come out victorious in the polls. She was felicitated by President Rajapksha with a gold medal and Rs 5 million cash after her retirement.
