PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Secretary XI emerge victorious in senior one-day knockout tourney

Cadence Cricket Academy, PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Secretary XI registered victories on the first day of the Senior One-day Knockout tournament.

At the Deccan Gymkhana, Samad Fallah's five-wicket haul helped Cadence bundle out Raigad District Cricket Association for a meager 133 in 31 overs. Cadence won by nine wickets in just 17.4 overs, with unbeaten half centuries by Abhijeet Salvi (56 n.o) and Nikhil Paradkar (61 n.o.).

PYC, on the other hand, emerged victorious over Jalgaon in a nail-biting encounter that went right down to the wire. Having been bowled out for 130, PYC had to rely on their bowling attack, which performed brilliantly to restrict Jalgaon to 128. Deepak Shilamkar and Kunal Marathe grabbed four wickets, while Rohit Karanjkar scalped the remaining two.

The highest-scoring match of the day was played between Income Tax, Pune and Secretary XI at the Poona Club Grounds. Income Tax batted first and finished with a commendable total of 255/9 in 50 overs. Mandar Degde's 90 runs and 53 from Sangram Bagul were instrumental in helping them reach the target.

Secretary XI, however, had a batting line-up that was more than up to the task, with several batsmen chipping in to overhaul the target in 47.1 overs. Sunil Yadav, Solomon Chopade and Kedar Jadhav scoring 59, 56 and 46 respectively to reach 256/6, winning the match by 4 wickets.
