New Delhi, Feb 11 (PTI) Delhi District Cricket Association vice-president Chetan Chauhan is not amused at the way the ICC appeal''s commissioner used the word ''suspension'' while rejecting BCCI''s plea against the Kotla ban. "I''m personally against this word, ''suspension''. I didn''t like it because I feel the match referee called off the match without taking into consideration the alternative pitches that we offered. There was enough time and there are clear provisions in the ICC rules for that," Chauhan said. The ICC had banned the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium here for one year -- until the end of December 2010 -- after an one-day international between India and Sri Lanka was called off in December last year because of "unfit" pitch conditions. Following the ban, the BCCI filed an appeal asking the ICC to reconsider its decision only to be rejected yesterday with the appeal''s commissioner Michael Beloff saying the suspension was proportionate in this case. Asked what would be DDCA''s next step, Chauhan said it was upto the Indian Cricket Board. "The onus is on BCCI, I can''t comment on what steps they would be taking now," he said. Chauhan said work in Kotla is going on full swing and hopefully there won''t be any hiccups in hosting the 2011 world Cup matches. "We have started our preparations for World Cup. There will be trial matches between the state sides and also IPL matches will be held here. I am confident there won''t be any problem in hosting World Cup matches," he said.
