Bangladesh can be a very awkward team to come across: Collingwood

Chittagong, Mar 14(ANI): England all-rounder Paul Collingwood insists Bangladesh is not an easy opposition despite destroying them in the ongoing first Test being played in Chittagong.

"Bangladesh are improving all the time and they can be a very awkward team to come across," The News of The World quoted Collingwood, as saying.

"We've seen over the last two days it has been a very flat wicket, so it's very easy to say they are not as good as other Test-playing teams. But we want to win to build up confidence and we won't be getting complacent. It can be tough out here," he added.

Collingwood smashed 145 against the woeful hosts as England declared on 599-6 in their first innings.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is struggling on 154-5, and face a massive task to avoid an innings defeat.

The century is Collingwood's 10th in Test matches and first in over a year, since scoring 161 against the West Indies at Port of Spain last March.

"There have been innings which I think in my own mind have been centuries, but statistically, they have not been put down as centuries. So, it was important I got to three figures and did a job for the team," Collingwood said.

"I'm 33, but I'm developing as a player all the time and getting more confident. It's been a bit of a purple patch and I want to continue that," he added. (ANI)
