Maha routs MP by six wickets in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy

Indore, Mar 13 (PTI) It was a pathetic show by host Madhya Pradesh in All India T20 cricket tournament for Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy quarter final match against Maharashtra played here at Usha Raje Cricket Grounds today. Maharashtra routed Madhya Pradesh by six wickets to steer into last four. In the morning visiting Captain Rohit Motwani won the toss and opted to field first. His decision proved good as host batsmen were struggling to stay at the middle of the wicket and were losing the wicket at regular intervals. Experienced Abbas Ali showed his class to stay at the middle of the wicket and scored 31, while other batsmen just returned back to dressing room at short spell. Kiran Adhav bowled well to capture three wickets for 29 runs while medium pacer Samad Fallah took two wickets for 23 to help their team to bundle out host cheaply. In reply Maharashtra batsmen had no difficulty in surpassing the required runs in just 16 overs to win the match by six wickets to steer in to last four. Ameya Shrikhande batted well to score 35 in 21 balls with six hits to the fence and one over the fence, while skipper Rohit Motwani and Ganesh Gaikwad scored 19 runs each to help their team''s easy victory.
