Himachal Pradesh and Assam in last eight

Indore, Mar 12 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh and Assam showed class to win their respective pre-quarter finals by defeating Jharkhand and Railways in All India T20 cricket tournament for Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy played at Usha Raje cricket grounds today. In the first match, Himachal Pradesh defeated Jharkhand by 11 runs to sail into the last eight. Hemant Dogra and Rishi Dhawan batted well and scored 41 and 49 respectively to help their team put on 159 for seven wickets in 20 overs. Yajuvendra Krishnatry bowled well to capture four wickets for 31 in four overs. In reply Jharkhand batsmen fell short by 11 runs and could muster only 148/4 in allotted 20 overs. Siddharth Sinha scored 31, Ishant Jaggi put on 24 while Rajeev Kumar swung his bat to score unbeaten 45 in just 26 balls with two boundaries and three huge sixes but his heroics failed to help his team. With this win, Himachal Pradesh has entered into the quarter finals. In the second match, Railways batting first could score 155/7 in 20 overs. Barring S Khanolkar who batted brilliantly for his 47 in 42 balls, none of the other batsmen could cross 20 run mark and lost their wickets regularly. .
