England bowled superbly to restrict Sri Lanka to 128 for six in their Twenty20 World Cup semi-final on Thursday.
A much-needed rearguard 58 from Angelo Mathews kept Sri Lanka in the hunt however on a slow pitch.
England dominated the six overs 'power play' reducing Sri Lanka to just 36 for three from that opening period with some intelligent bowling.
Those three wickets contained the cream of Sri Lanka's batting with openers Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene back in the hut cheaply along with Twenty20 specialist Tillakaratne Dilshan.
When skipper Kumar Sangakkara went with the score at 47 for four in the ninth over, Sri Lanka were in big trouble.
But a 46-run partnership from Chamara Kapugedera (16) and Mathews ensured that Sri Lanka's bowling attack -- including dangerous spinner Ajantha Mendis and sling-armed paceman Lasith Malinga -- have something to bowl at.
