Gros Islet (St. Lucia), May 13 (IANS) Raising questions about the commitment of some Indian cricketers, coach Gary Kirsten has said even his own fitness is better than some of the younger players in the team.

According to reports, Kirsten had a one-on-one meeting with seven cricketers -- captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Rohit Sharma.

Yuvraj, who is having a poor run with the bat since the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Rohit had to face the ire of the South African, who questioned their fitness levels. Kirsten apparently told them that he, at over 42 years of age, was fitter than some of the players.

Kirsten also said that his boys are happy to be No.1 in Tests and number 2 in ODIs but have not shown enough commitment to the World Twenty20.

He will submit a report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) based on which the board is planning to take some corrective measures.

The BCCI is unhappy that the team has not played up to their expectations.

The Indian team has come under heavy criticism for poor fielding and susceptibility to short-pitched deliveries. They lost all the three matches in the Super Eights and made an exit from the World Twenty20 before the semis for the second consecutive time.
