Real Madrid have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Pedro Leon from La Liga rivals Getafe on a six-year contract, the club said on their website on Friday (www.realmadrid.com).
Leon, 23, was presented to the media at the Bernabeu stadium. Real did not disclose financial details but local media reported the fee was 10 million euros ($13 million).
"Thank you to Real Madrid for allowing me to realise a dream I have had since childhood," Leon said. "Hopefully, I can win many titles."
New Real coach Jose Mourinho oversaw his first training session on Friday with a depleted squad missing players who took part in the World Cup in South Africa.
The signing of Leon is part of an attempt by president Florentino Perez to bring more Spanish players into a first-team squad that has been dominated by foreigners in recent years.
