London, Aug 8 (IANS) Former Australia coach John Buchanan will be assisting England in their preparations for the Ashes and is expected to join the squad next week.
With David Saker joining England as the new bowling coach early this year, Buchanan's appointment is only likely to add to the fears of the Australians. The 57-year-old helped England in a consultancy capacity last summer.
'I can confirm that he (Buchanan) is coming here this week,' an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) spokesman was quoted as saying the Guardian.
Buchanan helped Australia win three out of four Ashes series, including the 5-0 whitewash of England in 2006-07, and also coached his country during two successful World Cup campaigns.
