Mumbai, Aug 14 (PTI) Suspended IPL chairman Lalit Modi, facing a Cricket Board-constituted probe into alleged irregularities in conducting the T20 League, was re-elected today as president of Nagaur District Cricket Association for the third consecutive term. Modi was re-elected along with other office bearers at the elections held under the supervision of retired district and sessions judge M R Farooqui, said Modi''s legal counsel Mehmood Abdi in a media release. Rajender Singh Nandhu and Nasruddin Nagauri were elected as secretary and the treasurer respectively, the release said. Representatives of the state government and the district sports officer were present during the elections as observers along with a representative of the Rajasthan Sport Council, according to Abdi. Saying some disgruntled elements were claiming that a parallel body has been formed in the Nagaur District Cricket Association, Abdi said as per the Rajasthan Sports Act, 2005, there can be only one district association. "Any other person or body other than the authorised sports association claim to be the sport association of a given district will invite penal provisions as under the Sports Act it is an offence to unauthroisedly claim to be a sports association," he said. "In today''s election all the affiliated primary sports bodies affiliated with the district cricket association and duly recognized by Registrar of Cooperative Societies and the Rajasthan Cricket Association were represented," he said.
