Pune, Aug 10 (ANI): The Municipal Corporation of Pune on Tuesday felicitated ace woman shooter Tejaswini Sawant on winning a gold medal in the 50-metre rifle category at the World Shooting Championship held in Munich, Germany.
On behalf of the Corporation, Pune Mayor Mohan Singh Rajpal presented a shawl and a cheque of Rs one lakh to Sawant.
Scores of young admirers gathered at this event.
Sawant later speaking to the media persons said that her main goal is to cross her personal best score in the next World Cup.
"In this event - in .22 Weapons itself, there is an event named 3 Position- I want to cross my personal best score and that too in the World Cup itself. So my main goal in the next World Cup in 3 Position is to cross my personal best," she added.
On her part, Sawant attributed these achievements to her family members especially her father, who unfortunately expired earlier this year, and her coach and fitness trainers.
Twenty-nine year old Sawant scripted history on Sunday by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to clinch a gold medal at the World Championships with a world-record equalling score in the 50m Rifle Prone event in Munich, Germany.
She scored 597 (100, 100, 100, 99, 99, 99) out of 600 points in the 50-metre rifle prone to equal the record set by Russia"s Marina Bobkova in 1998. (ANI)
