New Delhi, Sep 11 (PTI) Top seed, International Master Sahaj Grover of Delhi and Girish Kaushik of Karnataka won their respective matches to share the lead after 10th round of the National Sub-junior Chess Championship here today. Both of them have 8.5 points in kitty. Sahaj played well with white pieces against Karthikeyan Murali of Tamil Nadu, who proved no match in a Sicilian defense game. Going for the Scheveningen set up, Karthikeyan missed a fine point early in the middle game and ended up under enormous pressure on the king side. Sahaj won a pawn and scored an emphatic victory in the endgame that ensued. Kaushik proved superior to Gagare Shardul of Maharashtra from an English opening game with black pieces. Gagare was under control for the major part of the game but a momentary lapse in concentration with his clock ticking away cost him dearly. The rook ending that followed on board after subsequent exchanges had its technicalities but Kaushik made it look child''s play and wrapped the issue in quick time. Meanwhile, P V Nandhidhaa of Tamil Nadu retained a full point lead going into the final round of the girls'' event after settling for a draw with state-mate P Bala Kannamma in the 10th and penultimate round. Nandhidhaa just needs a draw in the final round to keep her rivals at bay. The Tamil Nadu girl moved to an impressive nine points out of a possible 10 in her section and is now one point ahead of B Pratyusha of Andhra Pradesh and Sonakshi Rathore of Rajasthan, a release said. .
