London, Sep 11 (ANI): England striker Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen are fed up of the media hullabaloo, following the revelations of the footballer's hooker romps.

The couple has asked the media to respect their privacy amid allegations about his private life and said they had a right to discuss "these matters" in private.

"The last six days have been extremely painful for us and for our families," the BBC quoted the duo as saying in a statement published by the News of the World.

The couple also added that it was impossible for them to attempt to resolve the issues in the current media scenario and that they are facing a backdrop of so many inaccurate and intrusive stories.

The couple is going through the wrecking time and Rooney is trying hard to save his marriage subsequent the expose.

"We would therefore ask that the media now respects our privacy and the right of our family to discuss these matters in private," the statement wishfully concluded. (ANI)
