Kalmadi''s tryst with goof-ups continues

Thu, Oct 14 10 09:57 PM

New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI) Suresh Kalmadi did it again. After "Prince Diana" and Abdul Kalam "Azad" faux pas, the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman''s tryst with goof-ups continued today when he took the wrong name while thanking Delhi Mayor during the closing ceremony of the sporting extravaganza. Kalmadi conveyed his "special thanks to Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain" during his speech at the closing ceremony of the Games this evening. However, BJP''s Sain had relinquished the post earlier this year and fellow partyman Prithviraj Sahni was elected as the Mayor. Earlier at the opening ceremony on October three, he had addressed former President A P J Abdul Kalam as Abdul Kalam Azad. Abul Kalam Azad was a freedom fighter. His next faux pas was at the first press conference on October five when he said "Prince Diana" attended the event''s opening ceremony. Giving details on the "spectacular" opening ceremony, Kalmadi told a press conference that "Prince Diana" attended the function where he was to say "Prince Charles".
