Nagpur, Oct 19 (PTI) The Nagpur Premier League (NPL) Football tournament, which carries a prize money to the tune of Rs 20 lakh, will kickoff from October 21 at the Yeshwant Stadium here, organisers said today. President of All India Football Federation (AIFF), Praful Patel, Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Videocon Group Chairman Venugopal Dhoot will be Chief Guests to inaugurate the tournament, which is an initiative of the Lokmat Group of Newspapers, they said. "Indian football icon Baichung Bhutia and AIFF secretary Alberto Colaco will also attend the opening ceremony," Lokmat Group Chairman and MP Vijay Darda told reporters here. Eight teams -- Abhijeet Lions, Gupta Tigers, Tajashree Indians, Team Grace, Baidyanath Heroes, Raisoni Achievers, Vatsalya Riders and Sarvik Bulls will vie for top honours. All the matches will be played in the flood-lit ground, with two matches being played everyday from October 22 to 26. Semi-finals will be held on October 28 and 29, while the final would be played on October 31. The winners would be richer by Rs 1,50,000, while runner-up will get Rs 75,000. A golden boot made of 826 grams of silver with gold polish worth Rs 50,000 and Rs 31,000 cash will be given to highest goal scorer. Other prizes include, best forward, best stopper, best half and best goalkeeper, Nilesh Singh, General Manager, Lokmat Group said. The tournament will be conducted by Nagpur District Football Association, with former Mayor Atal Bahadur Singh and Haresh Vora as president and secretary respectively.
