Omkar Singh finishes seventh in shooting world cup final

New Delhi, Oct 27 (PTI) Commonwealth Games gold medallist Omkar Singh finished seventh after he aggregated 681.5 (581+100.5) in men''s 10-metre air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup final in Munich, Germany today. Omkar shot a series of 9.6, 9.8, 10.1, 10.7, 10.8, 9.5, 9.4, 10.0, 10.8, 9.8 in the final after finishing 11th in the qualifying. Italy''s Mauro Badaracchi clinched the gold medal after he shot 687 (587+100), while Rashid Yunusmetov of Kazakhstan bagged the silver with a score of 685.8. Japan''s Tomoyuki Matsuda scored 682.8 to win the bronze medal. Earlier, Commonwealth Games silver medallist Lajja Gauswami finished 11th after she aggregated 573 in women''s 50-metre rifle 3 position event. Joydeep Karmakar finished eight in men''s 50-metre rifle prone event with a total of 698.7 (596 + 102.7). Gauswami scored 196 in prone, 186 in standing and 191 in kneeling position. USA''s Jamie Beyerle won the gold medal after she shot 690.7 (590 in qualifying and 100.7 in the final), while Serbia''s Lidija Mihalovic clinched the silver with 686.5. Germany''s Sonja Pfeilschifter bagged the bronze medal with a score of 685.9. In men''s 50-metre rifle prone, Belarus'' Sergei Martynov clinched the gold after he shot 703.2, while Norway''s Vebjoern Berg bagged silver with 701.7. Germany''s Henri Junghaenel shot 701.5 to have a bronze-medal finish. Omkar won gold in 50m pistol (singles) and 10m air pistol (singles and pairs) events in the Commonwealth Games here. He also bagged a silver medal in 50m pistol (pairs) event. Gauswami, in partnership with world champion Tejaswini Sawant, had clinched silver in 50-metre rifle 3 position event in the Games.
