New Delhi, Oct 6 (ANI): The Scottish minister for Sports and Public Health, Shona Robison, met a group of underprivileged children here on Wednesday.

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), that seeks to empower children with sports, had invited the Scottish minister to spend time with underprivileged children to give them a moral boost.

Shona was impressed after spending few hours with these children, and decided to introduce such methods of learning in Scotland.

"The children here love taking part in sports and learning new sport. It also brings the community together and I have been hearing how the community has been coming together, because we talked about some of the issues here and what to do about them," said Shona

"So, it is more than just about the sports more than just about children, it seems to involve the whole community, the parents, which is really good and maybe some lessons for us to learn back in Scotland from what magic bus is doing here," she added.

The children also enjoyed with Shona Robinson, playing games, talking and asking her many questions.

"It was really nice to meet her and I found her very interesting. I asked her lots of questions such as her age, to which she answered 44. She gave me a moral boost which I liked," said Komal.

Meanwhile, the NGO chief briefed about the importance of sports and experiential learning on the occasion.

"What we do at magic bus is that we use sport as a development tool, so what we understand is that through play, sports and game children have the ability to learn things that perhaps they wont learn in a normal classroom. We use a technique called experiential learning, learning by experiencing, learning by doing," said Matthew Spacie, CEO and founder of Magic Bus.

"We use games and sports to instill very important lessons for children around education, around health, around shelter, around behavior around gender. These are very important outcomes and are addressed through the medium of sport," he added. (ANI)
