VfL Wolfsburg eased into the German Cup third round with a 3-1 win at fifth division Victoria Hamburg on Tuesday while Koblenz ousted Hertha Berlin 2-1 helped by a stunning goal from 50 metres.

Wolfsburg took an early lead in the one-legged tie through Slovak Peter Pekarik's header after 17 minutes.

Bundesliga club Wolfsburg had to wait another 35 minutes for their second goal when Brazil international Josue slotted home from inside the box.

Marcel Schaefer added another to seal victory before the hosts pulled one back.

Third division Koblenz's Michael Stahl will long remember this day after he gave them the lead over Hertha Berlin with a shot from inside his own half which sailed over goalkeeper Marco Sejna.

Koblenz won 2-1, inflicting the first defeat of the season on second division leaders Hertha, previously the only unbeaten team in the German professional leagues.

Cologne enjoyed some respite from their troubled Bundesliga season when they beat second division 1860 Munich 3-0 to advance.

Champions Bayern Munich host Werder Bremen in a repeat of last season's final later on Tuesday.
