Dhanbad, Nov 9 (PTI) Defending champions Bengal defeated Orissa by seven wickets in the East Zone senior inter-state women''s cricket championship at the Railway stadium here today. In another match, Jharkhand brought Tripura''s winning run to an end, beating them by 48 runs at Digwadih stadium. Batting first after winning the toss, Orissa scored 101 for nine in their stipulated 50 overs. In reply, Bengal scored the required runs in 35.5 overs and with seven wickets to spare. Mandira (27) and Ananya (22 not out) were the major contributors with the bat for Bengal. Mandira''s 27 came off 46 balls and with the help of four hits to the fence. Kadambini (47; 6x4) was the top scorer for Orissa. Jhulan Goswami and Archana Das took two wickets each, conceding 14 and 25 runs, respectively. At Digwadih stadium, Jharkhand after scoring 196 for eight, bowled Tripura out for 148 in 49 overs. Seema Singh, who scored 69 runs with the help of eight boundaries, was the architect of the team''s victory, while Kavita Roy chipped in with 40. Rita Deb Burman of Tripura took three wickets for 18 while captain Anapurna claimed two for 43. Ganga was the highest scorer for Tripura with 35 while Reema Chakravarti scored 33. Rini Burman of Jharkhand took four for 29 in 9 overs. PTI COR AMD AH
