Kerala have a slight edge over J&K

Tue, Nov 09 10 07:37 PM

Perinthalmanna (Kerala), Nov 9 (PTI) Kerala will start as favourites when they take on Jammu and Kashmir in their second Group B Ranji Trophy Plate League match here tomorrow. Kerala had earned three points in their first match against Services by a virtue of their first innings lead, while J&K had lost their opening encounter against Maharashtra. The hosts will bank on their experienced allrounder Sreekumaran Nair, who scored 137 against Services, and Robert Fernandez and Rohan Prem to put up a big total on the board. Their bowling will be spearheaded by medium pacer Sony Cheruvattoor and spinners Nair and Sreejith. On the other hand, the visitors'' fortunes will depend on the performances of Arshad Bhatt, Raman Dutta and Javid Ahmed, who were in good nick in the previous match. Kerala captain Raiphy Vincent Gomez is being rested for this match after he sustained an ankle injury in the game against Services in Delhi. In his absence, vice-captain Robert Fernandez will lead the team. This is the first time Perinthalmanna cricket stadium will be hosting a Ranji trophy match.
