Karachi, Nov 9 (PTI) The family of Pakistan wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider today asked him to return home from London where he has fled after leaving the Pakistan team hotel in Dubai hours before the fifth and final one-day international against South Africa. "He should return to Pakistan or if he has issues coming back home because of the threats he should at least come back to Dubai and join the team again," his brother Aqeel Haider said. "His wife and children are also very concerned about him and believe he should be back at home they don''t want to go to London," he said. Haider''s wife Qurutul Ain appeared on a television channel with her father-in-law pleading for her husband to return at least to Dubai. Haider landed in London late last night claiming he had got death threats from unidentified persons after refusing to cooperate with them in fixing the one-day series against South Africa in Dubai. The wicketkeeper was questioned by officers of Scotland Yard and International Cricket Council Anti-Corruption unit in London today. ''Geo News'' channel said that Haider had applied for political asylum in the United Kingdom and the British border and home office had started the process of reviewing his asylum application. "Presently they have told him to not move out of the hotel without informing them and have also taken his mobile for further investigation," the channel reported. Wajid Shamsul Hasan, the Pakistan ambassador in the UK, said that so far Haider had not approached him for any assistance. "I don''t know about his getting political asylum in this country because the UK government only gives political asylum to those people who are being prosecuted by their governments," Hasan said. "I don''t know what has happened with him but certainly he has not followed the proper channels so far. As far as his returning to Pakistan is concerned and his fears about his security I can tell you the government can provide him security," he added.
