S S Ramaswamy Guangzhou, Nov 26 (PTI) India were routed 3-0 by hosts China in the 5-6 placing match in the Asian Games men''s volleyball at the Zhongda Gymnasium here today. China won the one-sided match 25-18, 25-17, 25-18 with their players dominating the match with aces and tricky serves that troubled the Indian team. China wasted no time in taking control of the first set which set the tone. Hard hit ''kills'' from Yuan Zhi and Bian Hongmin easily got past the Indian back-row defence. With China controlling the net play, India tried to negate this aspect and this led to big spaces in mid-court which the Chinese took advantage of. The match was decided by another winning shot by Shen Qiong. Indian coach G Sridharan said that his team''s net blocks did not work well. "Our blocks were not good in this match. China did very well in defence and they worked together very well," he said. Sridharan was not satisfied with his team''s show though they had stunned a top-ranked team like Japan. "We came here to win a medal. But we lost to Thailand last Sunday and that put us out of medal reckoning. We have to wait for the next Asian Games to get a medal," he said. "What we did today was better than what we did in earlier matches," said China''s spiker Bian Hongmin. China lost to Japan and Iran and Hongmin said this had affected the team''s morale. "After encouragement from our coaches, it got better," he said.
