Bangalore, Nov 4 (PTI) Clean Sports India today welcomed the Delhi High Court decision on implementation of government guidelines in relation to the tenure and age limit of sports administrators. "This will serve as a right warning for erring sports bosses of archery, badminton, athletics, swimming and shooting who approached the honorable Court seeking relief not to implement government guidelines," the group said in a statement here. Pargat Singh, President CSI, welcomed the court order and said the days of sports monarchy are numbered. He also welcomed the decision of Vidya Stokes who resigned as President of Hockey India and requested other politicians to follow her example. B V P Rao, National Convener of CSI, and Ashwini Nachappa CSI Vice President, flayed Archery Association of India president V K Malhotra''s "absurd logic" of comparing the age and tenure issue of sports federations to that of Prime Minister and other ministers. "Malhotra, if he had the moral courage, should challenge the International Olympic Committee, which follows similar guidelines on age and tenure," they said. Rao urged former sportspersons to come forward to "throw out deadwood" from Indian sports and opined that such a day was too not far off. Nachappa appreciated the efforts of Sports Ministry to implement guidelines of the High Court. Reeth Abraham, Joint Convener of CSI, thanked Rahul Mehra for his ''single handed contribution'' in taking up the PIL in Delhi High Court. CSI believes this would be a new beginning in the history of Indian Sport, it said. As per reports, out of 62 National Sports Federations (NSFs), 24 bodies, including Athletics, Tennis, Boxing and Archery are not following government guidelines and nearly 40 per cent of the NSFs have violated the tenure term for the office bearers, fixed at a maximum of eight years. The government guidelines specify that an office-bearer cannot continue after the age of 70, and for not more than three terms. It also fixed a two-term (eight years) tenure for other sports bodies.
