Manchester United hero Gary Neville is set to retire from football at the end of this season as he will be out of contract in June and there are no plans to offer a new one by the club.

Right-back Neville, 34, has been hit by a series of injuries over the last two years, which have prevented the right back from making regular first-team appearances.

Fellow United veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs have new one-year deals, The Sun reports.

Ex-England star Neville has played 583 first-team games so far in a superb 18-year career at Old Trafford.

Neville is England's most capped right back and Manchester United's captain. He started at and has played his entire career at Old Trafford, making him a rare one-club man.

He made his international debut in 1995 and was first choice right back for club and country for more than ten years.
