Lahore, Feb.2 (ANI): Pakistan chief selector Iqbal Qasim, who resigned from the post after the team's 5-0 whitewash in the one-day international series against Australia, has turned down Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt's request to continue on the post."I am thankful to the PCB chief, but it is not possible for me to continue as chief selector," Qasim said.
Qasim had resigned from the post taking moral responsibility for Pakistan's pitiable performance both in the Test and one-day series Down Under.
"The performance of the team has gone down and I should take responsibility. I have made up my mind and now the decision is final," The Daily Times quoted Qasim, as saying.
Qasim was appointed as the chief of a five-member selection committee after legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir stepped down in July last year. (ANI)
