Kolkata, Apr 10 (PTI) One point above the drop zone, East Bengal will have a big task ahead when they take on title contender Dempo in the I-League round 20 encounter at Yuba Bharati Krirangan here tomorrow. With their inspirational striker Bhaichung Bhutia yet to recover from hamstring injury, the challenge will be bigger against the Goan side who will be desperate to snatch the pole position back from Mahindra United. Having suffered a loss to Mahindra United in their last match, Dempo lost their lead spot. But Armando Colaco-coached side now have a chance as Mahindra United were held by Mumbai in their round 20 match. Two points shy of the leaders, Dempo will bank on their Nigerian striker Ranti Martins who has been in top form last month, scoring as many as seven goals in five games. East Bengal on the other hand will look forward to Sanju Pradhan who scored a hattrick in their 6-1 win over Kalighat in a local league match yesterday. The win, incidentally, brought a disappointing 14-match winless streak to an end but their Belgian coach Philippe de Ridder does not want to look back. Ruling out Bhutia for the match, de Ridder said: "What happened in the past is history. We have to look forward and tomorrow''s match is crucial." East Bengal, which has 21 points from 18 matches, currently lay fourth last from the bottom of the standings. PTI TAP AMD SHN
