Halle, Germany, June 12 (DPA) Top seed Roger Federer moved within one victory of a sixth title at the Halle grass court tournament when he beat local hope Philipp Petzschner 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in the semi-finals Saturday.
Federer prevailed in 91 minutes and in the final meets Australian veteran Lleyton Hewitt, who also beat a German, Benjamin Becker, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
The Swiss Federer has not lost a match in Halle since the 2002 semi-finals, lifting the trophy every year he played here (2003-2006, 2008) for a win streak of currently 29.
Federer has won the last 15 matches against Hewitt for an overall 17-7 lead.
