Mumbai, Jun 12 (PTI) The annual Sportscraft-conducted Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally, in its 21st year, would be held tomorrow at the Godrej company ground in Vikhroli instead of in Navi Mumbai as was planned earlier and in a different format, the organisers said today. "We have been forced to drop the plans to hold it in Navi Mumbai with the police refusing us permission to run it there. Luckily the Godrej authorities have allowed us to use their ground and it will be run in a different format," said veteran motorsports administrator Shrikant Karani of Sportscraft. "We have received 40 entries from other parts of Maharashtra like Pune and Nashik too but the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol is unconcerned about their plight and told us it''s our problem and not his," Karani said. Navi Mumbai has been the venue of the competitive part of the rally over the last few years and Karani expressed surprise and helplessness at the refusal of the police authorities to run the event this year citing danger to life and limb of people living there. Karani, all set to orgnise his 397th motor sports event across the length and breadth of the country, was agitated and said he felt like getting out of conducting any more motor sports event in the country. He said as per the new format, ten laps would be run and the rallyists'' cumulative times for each lap would be taken into consideration to decide the winner.
