Spl first-aid kiosks at 23 Metro stations during Games

New Delhi, Jun 13 (PTI) Come Commonwealth Games, 23 Metro stations in the national capital, especially those close to stadia, will have special first-aid kiosks to provide medical services to commuters. The kiosks at the stations, which the DMRC expects will have higher footfalls during the nearly fortnight-long sporting extravaganza, will have four qualified ''First Aiders'' to provide medical assistance to commuters. Almost all the 12 Games venues have Metro connectivity and the stations close to the stadia will have the ''Special First Aid kiosks''. The DMRC has tied up with St John Ambulance Brigade for the purpose. Besides first aid, other basic medical facilities such as blood pressure and temperature check-up arrangements and general medicines will also be provided, a DMRC spokesman said. "While the first-aid professionals will be from the St John Ambulance Brigade, the medicines and other related equipment will be provided by DMRC," he said. Besides, the Customer Relation Associates (CRA) at all Metro stations are being given detailed training on first-aid. "Even in the Metro stations, where the ''Special First Aid kiosks'' won''t be available, the Metro staff will be in a position to help the commuters," he said. The station staff has also been provided a detailed list of the hospitals near their stations so that they can take the commuters there in case of an emergency. The ''Special First Aid kiosks'' will be available at stations like Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Qutub Minar, Kashmere Gate, Rithala, Patel Chowk, R K Ashram, Chandni Chowk, Netaji Subhas Place, Model Town, Pitampura, Akshardham, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jangpura, Pragati Maidan, Indraprastha, Tuglakabad, AIIMS, INA, Hauz Khas, Anand Vihar and Vishwavidyalaya. While the JLN and Jangpura stations will be close to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Pragati Maidan and Central Secretariat stations are near Major Dyan Chand National Stadium. While commuters and sports lovers can alight at Indraprastha and reach Indira Gandhi Sports complex, Tuglakabad station is close to Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range and AIIMS station will be close to R K Tennis complex. INA Station is close to Thyagraj Sports Complex while Siri Fort Sports Complex is near Hauz Khas, Talkatora is near Patel Chowk and R K Ashram Marg, while Yamuna Sports Complex is close to Anand Vihar station. Passengers can alight at Viswavidhalaya to reach Delhi University, Central Secretariat for Central Vista and Patel Chowk for SP Mukherji Marg Swimming Pool.
