New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Eight sub-junior level cagers from the country have been selected for a scholarship in the IMG Basketball Academy at Bradenton, Florida in the United States. Coaches from the IMG Basketball Academy selected the eight youngsters out of 50 players after spending two days with them. The selected players for the scholarship include four girls -- Pooja Ambistha, A Kavita, Soumya Babbar, Barkha Sonkar -- and four boys -- Sanjeev Kumar, Dinesh Mishra, Satnam Singh and Ashiv Jain. All the selected eight are currently at training camp in Bhopal. Basketball Federation of India (BFI) said they anticipate the players to leave the country on August 28, in time for the start of the academic semester at the IMG Academy on September 1. The players will be accompanied on the trip by Ravishankar Pathanjali as chaperone. "As a former tennis player himself, who went to college in the US, Pathanjali is well suited to this role. He will be supported by the full network of world class coaching and pastoral staff at the Academies," a BFI statement said. All travel, accommodation and tuition costs will be borne by IMG Reliance.
