New Delhi, July 6 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna Tuesday inspected the Yamuna Sports Complex, a venue for the Commonwealth Games, and asked officials to complete all construction activity at the site by July 31.
Khanna, who spent about 30 minutes at the east Delhi complex, said he would inspect the place again July 20 and 31. He also asked officials to complete the landscaping work by Aug 20.
'And while meeting the deadlines, 100 percent quality in the works should be ensured,' he directed.
The project has missed several deadlines since December 2009. However, it was inaugurated this March by Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy.
The Yamuna Sports Complex, work for which has been undertaken by the Delhi Development Authority, will host archery and table tennis events during the Oct 3-14 Games.
Khanna also visited the archery competition venue of the Commonwealth Games inside the complex where his permission was sought for increasing the number of seats from the existing 1,296, including 180 for VIPs.
However, he said seats should not be increased.
