Mumbai, July 1 (PTI) Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy captain Milind Rege has been appointed as the 2011 World Cup tournament manager, it was learned today. "He would be the World Cup tournament manager to oversee the readiness of all eight venues (in India) to conduct these matches like preparing the dressing rooms, the umpires'' rooms etc," according to Cricket Board sources. The appointment is till the conclusion of the mega event to be held in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from February 19-April 2, the sources added. Mumbai, Mohali, Nagpur, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi are the Indian centres to host Cup ties. Rege is also a managing committee member of the MCA and had recently retired from full time service with the Tatas. Prof Ratnakar Shetty, the BCCI CAO, is the overall tournament director, while Suru Nayak is the host country''s (India) tournament director.
