We have resolved the whereabouts clause issue: ICC

Singapore, July 1 (PTI) The International Cricket Council today claimed that it has resolved the contentious whereabout clause issue in its anti-doping Code but did not provide the details. The ICC said its Executive Board has approved the revised rules with some minor amendments and the ICC anti-doping code, which is in compliance with WADA Code, will now come into effect from August 1. "I am satisfied that we have now resolved the long outstanding issue of filing whereabouts information and the contribution of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in finding a solution needs to be acknowledged. This is a complex area for players and administrators," ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat said in a statement. The Indian cricketers had last year opposed the WADA whereabouts clause which demanded the athletes in the common testing pool to furnish details of their whereabouts three months in advance to the anti-doping authorities. The move was aimed to catch dop offenders through out of competition tests. Indian cricketers contended that it''s a violation of their fundamental right to privacy and poses a security threat and the BCCI has supported their stand. The ICC had then decided to suspend the clause until the concerns of the Indian players were sorted out.
