Nagpur, Sep 12 (PTI) Tejaswini Sawant, the first Indian woman shooter to clinch a gold medal at the World Championships, was felicitated by BJP President Nitin Gadkari here. Gadkari presented a purse of Rs five lakh to Sawant, who shot a world-record equalling score of 597 (100,100,100,99,99,99) in the 50m Rifle Prone event to finish on top, at a function here yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Sawant called on the organisers to motivate sportspersons for enhancing their performances ahead of major sports events like Commonwealth Games and Olympics. She disapproved negative criticism of the Commonwealth Games saying that with just 20 days left, every one should concentrate on the event and performances.
