Kolkata, Sep 12 (PTI) Defending champion Mohun Bagan played out a 2-2 draw with Chirag in a sea-saw battle, helping arch rivals East Bengal to be at the top of the table in the Sahara Premier Kolkata Football League here today. Nigerian Edeh Chidi, who limped out of ground for musle injury minutes before the water break, missed a penalty shot in the 33rd minute and that dented Bagan''s chances to garner full points. Referee Rathin Mukherjee signalled for spot kick when Chirag United''s defender and captain Arnab Mondal handled an aerial ball from Snehashish Chakraborty. The green-maroon broke the wall immediately after kick off as Subair Muritala Ali shot home (1-0) finding a defensive lapses of Chirag United, who levelled score by Munna Mollick''s goal in the 8th minute (1-1). Playing the season''s first big match at Yuba Bharati Krirangan before some thousands of football fans, Mohun Bagan, desperate to win the game to be at par with East Bengal in the race, mounted attack soon after breather but goal was illusive due to wayward shots from Muritala Ali, who missed at least two rosy chances. Mohun Bagan, who already lost a game to Aryan, went into the lead for second time by a header from Brazilian Jose Ramirez Barreto in the 60th minute who capitalised a right cross from medio Kingshuk Debnath (2-1). .
