Cyclists disappoint in Asian Games

Tue, Nov 16 10 05:22 PM

Guangzhou, Nov 16 (PTI) Prince Herbert Sara Hylem was the lone Indian cyclist to go some distance in the Asian Games but his effort was still way short of medal contention as he crashed out in the second round of the men''s Keirin repechage here. Hylem was sixth in his heats of the eight-lap race to enter the repechage round along with Okram Bikram Singh, who was fifth in his qualifying round. Hylem ended up second in the repechage round one to make the cut for the final round even as Bikram fell by the wayside after ending up third as only the first two riders in each heat qualified for the second round. Hylem''s campaign ended after that as he finished fifth in second round, where he was supposed to be in at least the top three to make the 1-6 classification finals tomorrow. In the men''s points race qualifying, Rajendra Kumar Bishnoi failed to finish inside the top-12 in the heats to miss out on qualification for the 60-lap race, which covers 15km in six sprints.
