India loses against Saudi Arabia in Handball at Asiad

Guangzhou, Nov 16 (PTI) India''s woes continued as they suffered their third consecutive loss, going down 22-40 to Saudi Arabia in a Group A match of men''s handball event in the Asian Games, here today. With India losing both their previous encounters, first to China and then to Qatar, it was a must win match for them but the Indians failed to inspire themselves and were lagging 10-18 at the break. Naya Chandra Singh scored seven goals for India, while Samsher Singh and Jain Prasad chipped in with four each and Vasu Bina scored three but it was not enough in the end. Gurung Raghu Kumar saved 12 out of 52 shots. For Saudi Arabia, Alzaer Mohammed Hussain, Alenbaawi Turki Saeed and Alsalem Mahdi Radhi scored six goals each. India will now take on Japan in their fourth group A match on Thursday, before facing Mongolia in the last match on Saturday.
