Mumbai, Nov 13 (PTI) The second season of the Mahindra NBA Challenge was today commenced in Delhi in the presence of NBA Director of Basketball Operations in India, Troy Justice. Also present on the occasion were Deputy General Manager of Corporate Strategy for Mahindra, Mufaddal Choonia and Secretary General of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) Harish Sharma. It is for the first time the league is being held in Delhi. The 2010-11 program will reach five cities in India. In addition to the Delhi and Mumbai leagues, the program will also be launched for the first time in Chennai later this season and will return to Bangalore and Ludhiana. In an effort to provide more players an opportunity to participate this season, the Mahindra NBA Challenge will expand the youth category to include three divisions: sub-junior for ages 12 to 13, youth for ages 14 to16, and junior for ages 16 to 18, a press release said. The adult division, for players aged 19 and over, will tip off in early January. "The NBA is committed to growing basketball in India and the Mahindra NBA Challenge is a comprehensive program designed to increase participation and excitement for the game," said Justice. .
