Kieswetter's maiden ton boosts England

Craig Kieswetter cracked a maiden century to help England post 284-5 against Bangladesh in the third and final one-day international on Friday.

The 22-year-old opener hit three sixes and nine fours in a 123-ball 107 in only his third match as England took 107 runs in the last 10 overs after being put in to bat on a slow pitch.

Kieswetter added 74 for the third wicket with Paul Collingwood (36) and 67 for the next with Eoin Morgan (36) after Bangladesh's spinners threatened to restrict the tourists to a modest total with tight spells in middle overs.

He went for big shots after completing his half-century off 80 balls, hitting spinners Mohammad Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan, and then seamer Rubel Hossain for sixes. He needed just 41 more balls to reach his hundred.

Kieswetter was bowled while attempting to cut left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak in the 47th over, but not before boosting England's chances of completing a clean sweep after winning the first two matches in Dhaka.

Luke Wright made merry in the closing overs, hitting a 13-ball 32 not out with the help of two sixes and as many fours. Morgan, who made a hundred in the previous game, also played a big role in stepping up the run-rate as he hit one six and four boundaries after being dropped twice in his 29-ball knock.

England made a solid start, with skipper Alastair Cook (32) and Kieswetter putting on 59 for the opening wicket. The England captain was caught behind while trying to cut left-arm spinner Shakib.

Kevin Pietersen's poor run with the bat continued as he contributed 22 before being trapped leg-before by Razzak for a second successive time in the series. He finished the series with 41 runs in three matches.

England made two changes from the side that won the second match on Tuesday, bringing in Liam Plunkett and debutant Ajmal Shahzad in place of James Tredwell and unfit Stuart Broad. The host team remained unchanged.
