Rooney back for clash against Manchester City

London, Apr 14 (ANI): Ace striker Wayne Rooney, who was forced to sit out Manchester United's last two league matches due to an ankle injury, has informed boss Sir Alex Ferguson that he will be back for the big Manchester derby on Saturday.

Rooney was a surprise starter for the Champions League quarter-final, second leg with Bayern Munich last Wednesday and lasted only 55 minutes before hobbling out of the tie.

But he has told friends that his ankle is now fine and he should be ready to line up at Eastlands.

That will be a huge boost to boss Ferguson as his team has managed only one point in two matches without their 34-goal leading scorer, The Sun reports.

United lost 2-1 to title rivals Chelsea and drew 0-0 at Blackburn.

Ferguson said on Friday that he hoped to have Rooney back for the derby, but he would need time and treatment on the injury.

Fergie said last week: "It's not serious and I think he will be ready for the City game."

The United squad was given Monday off but Rooney went in to do some light training and receive more work on his right ankle. (ANI)
