National Sports Law in offing for good administration

Fri, Aug 13 10 03:08 PM

New Delhi, Aug. 13 -- Perhaps, keeping in view the various controversies taking place in sports, the Central Government is planning to enact a National Sports Law for better governance and management of sports. In reply to a question in Parliament on whether eminent sports experts have urged the government to enact a separate sports law, Sports Minister MS Gill replied, "The government has carefully studied the sports regulation systems prevalent in different countries and is considering options including that of enacting a National Sports Law for better governance.

"The need for having a central legislation for regulating the activities of the National Olympic Committee and National Sports Federations has been engaging the attention of the government in the light of their non-compliance with government guidelines on good governance," said Gill.
