S S Ramaswamy Guangzhou, Nov 15 (PTI) Aditya Mehta shocked world professional circuit top 20 player Liang Wianbo but India went down fighting 1-3 to title-favourites China in the snooker team championship final to settled for the silver medal at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium, here today. Cue sports has so far fetched three medals for India in the ongoing quadrennial mega-event with star cueist Pankaj Advani successfully defending his title in the English Billiards singles category while Alok Kumar securing a bronze in the men''s 8-ball pool singles yesterday. Today, each match in the snooker team final was a single frame affair in which world pro no 5 Ding Junhui outclassed former Asian champion Yasin Merchant 70-16 with a best break of 44 as compared to the Indian veteran''s 8 to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Aditya Mehta, also from Mumbai like Yasin, produced the lone silver lining when he shut out Liang Wenbo - ranked 20th on the tough pro circuit 51-46 with a best run of 26 to bring his team on level terms in the clash for the coveted gold medal. But Deng Junhui and Tian Pengfei combined forces in the doubles against the two Indian exponents and score a 68-27 victory to help China forge ahead 2-1. A break of 49 did the trick for the Chinese pair while the Indians'' best effort was 23. Merchant, then, was thrashed 96-0 by Wenbo who came up with the near-century break and buried the Indian hopes. Indian coach Manoj Kothari later said the Chinese, fielding two top professional players and a top national player in Pengfei in the doubles were too hot for his team members. .
