Shantinagar FC and Pune FC secured easy victories in their matches against Detroits FC and Eagle FC respectively at the Pune District Football League on Thursday.
The matches, which were played at the Rangehills Ground in Khadki, treated the spectators to some good football.
According to a press note, Shantinagar, which looked in fine touch, rode on some exemplary field passing from their players to ensure that their opponents did not get a chance to get ahead. Shantinagar began dominating the proceedings in the first five minutes of the match, as they began to make rapid runs throughout the right and left flanks of the Detriots team. ]
In the eighth minute, a brilliant run by mid-fielder Amit Ranpise saw the ball land deftly at the feet of Sunny Patole, who after running through an un-coordinated defence, gave his team the lead.
In the second half, though the Detroits were ahaed in terms of ball possession, a 36 th minute blunder on the part of their mid-fielders saw Asif Sheikh run away with the ball, who once again found Sunny Patole unmarked.
Patole doubled his team's lead and they held on till the final whistle.
In another match, the Pune FC 'B' team managed to pull off a slender 1-0 victory against a stronger Eagle FC team. Atif Sheikh of the PFC team in the 35th minute scored a good goal when he received a pass from forward Vikas Chavan, which turned the game in their favour.
The third match between Hasten FC and Smackers FC ended in a stalemate, with both sides failing to break the deadlock.
