Karachi, Jun 5 (PTI) Pakistan coach Waqar Younis is the latest to have fallen prey to the autocratic behavior of Ejaz Butt with the PCB chairman asking the former pacer to concentrate on his job and not to poke his nose at the administrative matters of the board. While announcing the Asia Cup squad, Butt asked Waqar to just concentrate on his coaching job and leave administrative matters to the board. "The thing is that Waqar has remained out of Pakistan for a while now and lives in Australia. So he is not aware of the changes in the board working nowadays. I will speak to him. He needs to concentrate on his coaching job," Butt said. The bone of contention between Waqar and Butt has turned out to be the appointment of former pacer Aaqib Javed as assistant coach of the national team for the Asia Cup starting next week in Sri Lanka. Sources also said that Butt is not happy with Waqar''s comments on cricket and selection matters. Waqar had told the media that he did not understand the wisdom of announcing 35-man probables for the Asia Cup and also the fact that he was not even consulted in the whole selection process. Sources said that Butt, on purpose, had not invited Waqar for a meeting in Lahore before announcing the Asia Cup squad. "Butt spoke to Shahid Afridi, chief selector Mohsin Khan but did not bother to call Waqar who remained close by at the national academy," one source said. Aaqib''s re-appointment as assistant coach also came as a surprise to the cricket community with many former players and critics questioning the decision. Aaqib, who was removed as assistant coach after the disastrous Australia tour, has upset quite a few players with his remarks before the inquiry committee, probing into the team''s poor performances Down Under early this year. Aaqib had even raised doubts over wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal''s performance in Australia before the inquiry committee. Annoyed with his remarks, Kamran had apparently threatened to sue Aaqib if he does not apologise for his comments that came to the fore with the leakage of the video recordings of the proceedings. Incidentally, former Test greats like Abdul Qadir and Aamir Sohail resigned during Butt''s tenure because of his attitude while ex-captain Javed Miandad also does not get along with him despite working in the board as director-general cricket.
